State: New Mexico and Arizona On the road again... After almost a week stay in Alamogordo we decided to start heading back toward Phoenix to spend Christmas with my brother and his family. The weather wasn't looking too bad, so instead of taking the main interstate (I-10) back to AZ, we decided to take a more northern route and check Petrified Forest National Park off our list. Here's Matt sporting his 'stache and long hairdo. And yes, that's a little snow on the ground out the window. We drove back toward Socorro, NM (where we stayed for one night when Matt threw out his back). Passed a brave biker on the highway. And how could we drive right by a legit town called Pie Town and not stop?! Matt pulled over after this fun stop sign and I jumped out at the only pie place that was not closed for the season - The Gatherin' Place. Oh boy were we in luck - the best pie place was still open!! We picked up a small apple pie, a tub of ice cream and some cookies made out of pie crust with Vietnamese cinnamon and sugar sprinkled on top. And the best part... the cookies came with a choice of dipping sauce. I picked blackberry. It was like dipping the pie crust cookie in blackberry pie filling... ah-mazing. MMMMMM! And back on the road again...
